about

artist statement

My work is inspired by the woods surrounding my home and studio near Bloomfield, KY. I use a Japanese technique called Kohiki which stretches the clay forming cracks and patterns that resembles  wood or bark. Each piece is hand formed and fired at high temperature. I often embellish my pieces with driftwood, grapevine, antlers or bones that are found on our property. Each organic form is a unique expression of my love for nature and the beauty that is all around us.
